Position: Integration Team Member

Nature of Role:

Integration staff are responsible for managing the software and hardware configurations for the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System in Code 25 Test Bays. Work as part of a highly skilled and multi-functional, multi-disciplined team in order to maintain proper lab configurations and provide support to various test teams. The Integration position provides unique exposure to multiple software and hardware baselines from legacy systems to cutting edge Submarine Combat Control platforms. As a byproduct of this exposure, team members develop a well-rounded, advanced level of knowledge in relation to systems administration, network administration, software and hardware troubleshooting, and process documentation. The Integration team performs all necessary test bay reconfigurations for major test events, platform builds for the boats themselves, and high-visibility development builds for testing cutting edge systems. As such, the Integration position carries a high level of importance, and commands focus, flexibility, and the desire to continuously learn from each of its team members. Team training and professional IT certifications are offered when available, including CompTIA Linux +, Network +, RedHat Enterprise Linux Systems Administrator, and more. Additionally, opportunities for travel arise on occasion for qualified team members to participate in platform installations on submarines of various configurations. Responsibilities:

include but are not limited to:

  • Test Bay installation, groom, and maintenance:

  • For Development, In-service, and Shipset test bays. Consists of conducting test bay reconfigurations according to the PMS-425 Program Plan.

  • Obtain Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge on all BYG-1 TI/APB combinations and related systems.

  • Complete applicable bay builds and groom checklists, status reports, and Qualifying Evidence (OQE).

  • Coordinate and obtain support from technical, hardware, and subsystem technicians and organizations as required.

  • Test Bay support:

  • Perform real-time and on-call test bay troubleshooting and restoration.

  • Coordinate and obtain support from technical, hardware, and subsystem technicians and organizations as required.

  • Support T&E activities as required:

  • Perform applicable testing, media generation, and report generation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Higher education not required, but is preferred, specifically a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or other IT concentrations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a qualified Fire Control Technician (FT), other applicable rate/skill set, or applicable professional IT experience.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Linux operating systems, their Command Line Interfaces, a solid grasp on computer troubleshooting methods. Intermediate or higher knowledge of the BYG-1 Combat Control System and its sub-systems, the BYG-1 software installation process and system functions is preferred but not required.
  • Must possess an intimate understanding of security practices in relation to working with classified material, proper handling of classified material, need to know, Operational Security and Information Security.
  • Travel is optional based on opportunity.

Preferred Experience:

  • Preferred professional certifications include but not limited to: Security+, Network+, Linux+, Cisco Certified Technician (CCT), Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT), Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA), RHEL Systems Administrator I and II.
  • 3 years - Fire Control Technician

Work Location: NUWC on-site. This position is not conducive to telework. Occasional shift work and weekends to meet schedule tasking needs.
