Position summary

The Intelligence Reporting & Automation Manager leads the reporting function within the Strategic Intelligence team and is responsible for the design, delivery, and automation of intelligence reporting across the firm. This role translates complex data, analytical outputs, and external intelligence into clear, actionable reports and briefings that support business decision-making and serve as the primary delivery layer for intelligence across the firm.

The Manager develops scalable reporting frameworks, automates workflows, and establishes standards that enhance the efficiency and quality of reporting outputs. This role partners with stakeholders across the firm to deliver insights that inform strategic initiatives and operational priorities, ensuring reporting outputs are aligned with business needs and evolving firm priorities, while leading and developing a team focused on delivering consistent, high-quality intelligence.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • Own and manage the catalog of intelligence reporting, including ad hoc and standard data reports, AI-augmented narrative briefings, and blended formats that combine quantitative data with synthesized external content.
  • Advance the firm's reporting quality and scalability through automation, self-service, and standardization.
  • Partner with Strategic Insights analysts to support the development of new metrics, models, and personalized insights, and identify effective methods for delivering information to guide firm leadership.
  • Define and maintain a library of report types, each with design standards, target audiences, and production processes.
  • Shape deliverables using a consultative approach by assessing stakeholder needs and calibrating outputs to audience sophistication, exercising independent judgment and discretion to determine appropriate outputs and delivery methods.
  • Design and automate repeatable reporting workflows to enable team output to scale with demand without proportional increases in manual effort.
  • Build AI-augmented pipelines that synthesize structured firm data with unstructured external content (e.g., news, filings, and market signals) to generate intelligence products such as client relationship briefings, competitive snapshots, and matter-context summaries.
  • Apply LLM-based workflows, RAG, or MCP techniques to expand the types of intelligence the team can produce at scale.
  • Identify opportunities to replace or augment manual report production through automation or self-service tools and lead the development of those capabilities.
  • Manage the queue of reporting and intelligence requests, including setting expectations, scoping requests, and ensuring timely delivery aligned with user needs.
  • Partner with internal business units — Finance, Strategy, Client Value, Marketing, HR, and IT — to identify emerging analytics needs and deliver insights that inform decision-making.
  • Create and maintain reporting standards, guidelines, and best practices, and audit and manage the BI dashboard library to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Support ad hoc data analysis projects and assist users across departments in answering data-related questions.
  • Ensure appropriate human review of AI-generated content and maintain alignment with firmwide data governance practices in coordination with the Data Architect, Data Integrity Lead, and Strategic Insights Leader.
  • Develop and maintain a consistent internal brand for all intelligence deliverables.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a junior team (potentially supplemented with contractors), with a focus on building systems that scale output rather than executing requests individually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job duties and responsibilities included are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Reed Smith reserves the right to revise or modify job duties and responsibilities at any time.
