We are seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses (ED RNs) for exciting contract-to-hire opportunities in Brooklyn, NY. The ED RN will utilize the nursing process to provide, coordinate, and oversee comprehensive patient care while working closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary clinical team.
Responsibilities
- Assess the immediate and ongoing care needs of patients
- Develop and implement comprehensive, individualized plans of care
- Provide direct nursing care based on patient needs and the prescribed medical regimen
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and reassessments following treatment or changes in condition
- Monitor, evaluate, document, and communicate patient responses to illness and therapeutic interventions
- Coordinate nursing interventions with the overall medical plan of care
- Establish patient care priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Provide appropriate patient and family education and discharge planning
- Integrate age-specific needs into patient care, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Supervise and coordinate care provided by LPNs, nursing attendants, technicians, and supplemental staff
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and the development of nursing standards
- Assist and relieve other nursing staff and provide coverage as assigned
- Participate in staff orientation, educational programs, meetings, committees, and other professional development activities
Required Experience
- 2–3 years of Emergency Department experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center
- Experience caring for high-acuity emergency patients
- Competency with ventilators/tracheostomies
- Competency with gastrostomy tubes
- Experience with medication titration
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and manage stressful clinical situations
Education
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse license
- TNCC – Required
- BLS – Required
- ACLS – Required
- PALS – Required
- AHA Stroke Certification – Required
Schedule
3 shifts per week | 12-hour shifts | 36 hours per week
