Duties Help

As a INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL ENGINEERING GS-0801-12 this position is located in a Civil Engineering Squadron at an Air National Guard Wing.

  1. Plans and schedules work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Coordinates plans and schedules with other organization managers and customers as appropriate. Identifies need for changes in priorities and takes action to implement such changes. Balances workload and provides advice guidance and direction on a wide range of policy investigative inspection exercise strategic planning and administrative issues. Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel overtime equipment supplies training and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives. Provides advice to supervisor on significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment.

  2. Accomplishes long and short-range planning for replacement of facilities or equipment including contingency operations for potential war or domestic emergency conditions. Contributes to development and time phasing of operations and maintenance of real property facility and construction programs to ensure assimilation into the overall installation program.

  3. Represents the Base ArchitectEngineer at meetings and conferences. Coordinates on plans exchanges information recommends policy or procedures and keeps apprised of new architecture and engineering developments. Makes decisions in line with prior ANG Base policy and planning such as priority of new construction acceptance of completed work facility disposal real estate acquisition utilization or disposal actions. Coordinates with ANG Civil Engineer Directorate and Engineering Divisions selected civilian engineer andor the Navy Facilities EngineeringCorps of Engineers COE offices on higher echelon-approved projects under the Military Construction Program and Real Property Maintenance Programs and requirements pertinent thereto.

  4. Provides technical instructions and information on architectural engineering and other technical requirements and assigns phases of projects to subordinate architects engineers engineering technicians and draftsmen. Reviews work accomplishment during progress and upon completion directs changes to achieve technically accurate and adequate layout and design computations specifications and estimates. Directs and reviews establishment and maintenance of record drawings and related files. Establishes technical engineering and architectural processes criteria and functions. Prepares or directs the preparation of engineering and architectural drawings specifications and independent cost estimates for the construction modification and maintenance of a wide variety of military buildings structures pavements grounds and utilities systems. Reviews architectural drawings sketches and specifications for technical adequacy constructability maintainability and operability. Participates as technical consultant and government engineeringarchitectural representative in conferences with Architectural-Engineering firms to insure that completed designs meet Air Force requirements in terms of technical sufficiency.

  5. Develops and maintains effective engineering staff relationships with base and tenant organizations. In staff meetings and in daily activities presents briefings on acquisitions construction operation maintenance and financial management concerning real property facilities.

  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Area 3 All current non-permanent technicians employees T5 and T32 of the Oregon National Guard

Area 4 All current and former members of the Oregon National Guard former members must provide documentation showing membership in the Oregon National Guard such as an NGB 22 or DD214

GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Work involves managing supervising leading andor performing professional engineering and scientific work. This position requires knowledge and skills in two or more professional engineering series within the Engineering and Architecture Group 0800.

GS-12 and above - Must have 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level experience education or training in preparing technical and engineering drawings. Experience searching out and developing new or greatly modified methods and approaches to accomplish the Civil Engineering function. Experience in coordinating and negotiating with contractors and other personnel regarding engineering and administrative matters. Experience supervising and leading others within the Engineering Occupational Series.

Education

A. Degree Engineering. To be acceptable the program must 1 lead to a bachelors degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET or 2 include differential and integral calculus and courses more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics a statics dynamics b strength of materials stress-strain relationships c fluid mechanics hydraulics d therm
