Job Description: Secondary Teacher Reports To:PrincipalDept/School:Assigned CampusEmployment:200 Day Contract, [Teacher Salary Scale]Calendar:10 Months / 200 Days Salary Grade:Degree / Years (Certified Scale)Date Revised:07/2024Qualifications:Valid Tennessee teaching license Applicable endorsement for subject area if requiredDemonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of core academic subject assignedKnowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsExperience:Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experiencePerformance Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Prepares for class and shows evidence of preparation when requested by the Principal or other school official.Prepares to teach a course of study, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers corresponding to the course of study.Prepares for assigned classes using appropriate materials to meet the needs of the individual student.Uses audiovisual/technological aids and other materials to supplement the presentation.Organizes and assigns lessons.Uses a variety of evaluation strategies and records results when appropriate.Administers tests to evaluate progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of student progress.Works as a cooperative Teacher to make modifications for students with learning differences as needed so the students can feel successful in the classroom.Conducts and maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.Encourages students to maintain appropriate standards of classroom behavior.Maintains order in the classroom and on school grounds/property.Assists in enforcing school rules, Board policies, and administrative regulations.Maintains accurate attendance, grade records, and permanent records as required by the school system and the State Department of Education.Meets with parents or guardians to plan and develop objectives and goals to improve students' academic progress.Assumes responsibility for all classroom activities and directs the duties of the instructional assistants that have been assigned to them.Meets all professional learning (in-service), administrative, and State Department of Education requirements.MARGINAL FUNCTIONSRepresents the school, the school system, and the community in a positive manner.Strives for self-improvement.Communicate & maintain positive rapport and positive working environment with principals, staff, and the public.Encourages students to reach out to accomplish their hopes and dreams.Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another.Adaptability to accepting responsibility for the direction, control, or planning of an activity.Adaptability to dealing with students.Adaptability to making generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.Possess strong writing, speaking, and human relations skills.Demonstrate English proficiency in oral and written English.Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:  Tools/Equipment Used:Personal computer; standard instructional equipment; [P.E.
