Interim ALF Administrator

INTERIM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – ASSISTED LIVING
Location: Fredericksburg, VA
Position Type: Interim / Contract

Blackwell Talent Consulting is seeking an experienced Interim Executive Director to provide leadership and operational oversight for an assisted living community in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven senior living leader who can step in quickly, stabilize operations, support the team, and ensure a high level of resident care and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of the assisted living community
• Ensure compliance with Virginia assisted living regulations, policies, and licensing requirements
• Lead, coach, and support department leaders and community staff
• Maintain a strong focus on resident satisfaction, quality of care, safety, and engagement
• Partner with residents and families to address concerns and maintain positive relationships
• Monitor staffing, scheduling, retention, and employee performance
• Oversee census, admissions, move-ins, and occupancy initiatives
• Manage operational budgets and financial performance
• Ensure regulatory readiness and address any identified areas of concern
• Work closely with ownership/corporate leadership to provide updates and implement priorities
• Promote a positive, accountable, and resident-centered culture

Qualifications

• Previous Executive Director, Administrator, Executive Director-in-Charge, or senior leadership experience in assisted living or senior living
• Strong knowledge of assisted living operations and Virginia regulations
• Virginia Assisted Living Facility Administrator (ALFA) license OR Virginia Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) license
• Proven ability to quickly assess operations, identify priorities, and implement solutions
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to build trust with residents, families, and employees
• Prior interim or turnaround experience is highly preferred
