ABOUT THE ROLE

Established construction and real estate development organization focused on multifamily and mixed-use projects is seeking an experienced accounting leader to oversee financial operations across development, construction, and corporate functions. This position will lead accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, controls, project accounting, and staff management while serving as a strategic partner to senior leadership. Candidates must bring substantial construction accounting experience, including public-private development work and hands-on experience with Sage 300.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and coordinate financial activities across development, construction, operations, risk management, and executive leadership.
  • Oversee accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, job costing, project setup, and project financial tracking.
  • Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, financial projections, and project-level financial performance.
  • Partner with project management and operations teams on job cost reporting, work-in-progress analysis, and project forecasting.
  • Manage relationships and communications with banks, surety providers, insurance partners, and other financial stakeholders.
  • Oversee financial policies, internal controls, accounting procedures, and process improvements.
  • Manage financial systems and support enhancements to accounting processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Lead or coordinate financial, insurance, corporate, retirement plan, sales tax, and other applicable audits.
  • Oversee tax-related reporting and filings, regulatory reporting, and accounting policy requirements.
  • Support insurance-related reporting and audits, including controlled insurance program requirements.
  • Provide financial and strategic analysis to ownership and senior leadership to support business decisions.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and present financial plans and forecasts to management.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and manage accounting personnel while establishing performance expectations and developing the team.
  • Oversee credit and collections activities in partnership with operations and accounting staff.
