Chief Nursing Executive

A community-based acute care hospital is seeking an experienced Chief Nursing Executive to lead nursing and clinical services. This executive will be responsible for advancing clinical quality, patient experience, workforce performance, regulatory readiness, and operational effectiveness while building a strong, accountable nursing culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for nursing and assigned clinical services.
• Drive improvements in quality, patient safety, patient experience, and regulatory performance.
• Strengthen nursing recruitment, retention, staffing, engagement, and leadership development.
• Promote evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee nursing productivity, budgets, staffing models, patient flow, and resource utilization.
• Partner with physicians and executive leadership on strategic planning, service development, and organizational growth.
• Develop high-performing leaders and foster a collaborative, accountable culture across nursing.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing or a related field required.

• Doctoral-level nursing education preferred.

• Active Registered Nurse license required, with eligibility for appropriate state licensure.

• Progressive nursing leadership experience within an acute care or similarly complex clinical environment.

• Experience leading multiple nursing or clinical functions.

• Demonstrated success implementing and sustaining clinical, workforce, or operational improvement.

• Strong understanding of nursing practice, clinical operations, regulatory requirements, workforce management, patient safety, quality improvement, and financial stewardship.

• Demonstrated ability to influence others and lead across functions, disciplines, and organizational levels.

• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, coaching, and change-management capabilities.
