Client Overview:
Our client, a high-growth, PE-backed direct-to-consumer eCommerce company in the consumer health and wellness space, just changed hands - and they need a steady, experienced hand to keep moving while they modernize. Our client is in the middle of an infrastructure overhaul, replacing manual, Excel-heavy processes with scalable systems, all while navigating an active year-end audit, and they are looking to add an Interim Controller to their team. If you are the person teams call when the Controller seat opens unexpectedly, and the stakes are real, this one is for you.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$75/hr - $80/hr

Position Overview:
This is not a "settle in slowly" engagement. The Interim Controller will step in immediately as the senior accounting authority, owning the close process through a leadership transition and an active audit, while leading a NetSuite optimization initiative and a multi-state sales tax compliance project. You will work closely with the Accounting Manager and report up to finance leadership at the CFO/SVP Finance level - a high-visibility, high-autonomy seat from day one. This is a 3-month contract with strong potential for extension.

Responsibilities of the Interim Controller:
  • Take immediate ownership of the close process during a leadership transition, ensuring accuracy and continuity through an active year-end audit.
  • Lead a NetSuite optimization initiative, improving ERP configuration and usage across the finance function.
  • Drive a sales tax compliance project (Avalara implementation) alongside outside advisors, bringing multi-state tax processes up to PE-grade standards.
  • Help transition the finance function off manual, Excel-dependent workflows toward automated, scalable processes.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager and broader Finance team on day-to-day GL ownership, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Contribute to team structure and process planning as the company builds out its finance organization post-acquisition.
Required Experience/Skills for the Interim Controller:
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller or Assistant Controller-level ownership of a close process.
  • Strong NetSuite experience is required.
  • Experience operating inside a PE-backed company through an ownership transition or infrastructure modernization.
  • Comfort stepping into a lean, fast-moving environment with minimal ramp-up time.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Interim Controller:
  • Direct-to-consumer eCommerce or CPG/retail background; healthcare/regulated industry exposure a plus.
  • Sales tax / multi-state compliance exposure (Avalara or similar).
  • CPA is preferred but not required, given the hands-on, execution-heavy nature of the engagement.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • CPA is preferred.
Benefits:
  • High-impact, high-autonomy engagement - senior finance voice in the room from day one.
  • Direct exposure to a PE ownership transition and modernization story.
  • Strong potential to extend beyond the initial 3 months as the broader infrastructure project continues.
  • Atrium Care Package available, upon eligibility (including healthcare plans, discount programs, and paid time off).
