2026-27 SY

Employee Qualifications:

• Any valid Connecticut teaching certification
• Minimum of five years teaching experience
• Experience in public school setting preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

Reports To:

Hamden Middle School Principal or designee

Job Goal:

Assist school staff in the maintenance and enforcement of school rules and acceptable student behavior and support all staff in maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:

• Responds to student disciplinary referrals from staff.
• Confers with and counsels' students involved in disciplinary infractions.
• Confer with parents, teachers and the support staff to develop plans to promote acceptable student behavior
• Assist in the resolution of conflicts between students utilizing restorative practices
• Supports after school detention programs as directed.
• Monitors and investigate student class cut reports.
• Confers with and counsel students regarding their attendance and their status under the attendance policy.
• Confers with parents, teachers, counseling, and other support staff to develop plans to promote improved attendance to school and class.
• Assists with general student supervision in and outside the building.
• Analyzes relevant student data to determine trends regarding student attendance and student behavior
• Identifies matters of concern regarding the operation of the school and make recommendations to school administration
• Investigates allegations of bullying when assigned by Hamden Middle School Administration
• Communicates with students, teachers, administrators, parents, school counselors, school nurses, security personnel, police department, and others regarding attendance and disciplinary matters.
• Communicates effectively via memo, letter, phone, email, etc. to the Principal, Assistant Principals, school staff, and the public
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by school administration, the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools and/or the Superintendent of School
