Barstow Community College is an open-access, comprehensive two-year institution serving a diverse student population in the Mojave region of San Bernardino County, California. The College's campus is located in the City of Barstow, California, situated in California's high desert, between Los Angeles, California and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Established in 1959, the Barstow Community College District (BCCD) encompasses a vast service area, stretching from the Nevada border on the East to Kern County on the West, and from Inyo County in the North to the San Bernardino Mountain range in the South. BCCD serves the communities of Barstow, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Daggett, Yermo, Hinkley, Ludlow and Baker. The institution also maintains a satellite learning center at the U.S. Army National Training Center in Ft. Irwin, California, which serves military personnel and their families.

The duration of the interim assignment is anticipated to extend for a period of up to four months. The assignment may conclude earlier or later depending on when the permanent position is filled.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Administrative Services, plan, organize, direct, schedule, and participate in the maintenance and operations of College facilities including the custodial, grounds keeping, and general maintenance operations of District-owned facilities; direct and provide technical guidance to assigned staff; serve as the District Security Director.

Indoor, outdoor, office and shop environment; subject to driving from site to site to conduct work; subject to adverse weather conditions and subject to noise from equipment operation; subject to call outs for emergencies.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Standing and walking for extended periods of time, climbing, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer terminal, and seeing to observe needed repairs.
HAZARDS:
Chemical and solvents, fumes, and working around and with machinery with moving parts.
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelors degree in engineering, architecture, industrial management, construction management or a related field and seven years experience in HVAC installation, mechanical maintenance, facilities maintenance, carpentry or a related field OR an Associate degree and ten years experience OR thirteen years experience. Two years increasingly responsible experience in facilities management or a related field is preferred.

A select group of candidates will be invited for an oral interview with the selection committee. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not assure the candidate an interview.

This position primarily location at Main Campus 2700 Barstow Road, Barstow Ca 92311.
Normal Hours: Mon - Fri 7am-4pm

Initial placement on the Management Salary Schedule will be commensurate with education and experience. The District provides an excellent health and welfare package which includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance and income protection. Current employer contribution not to exceed $21,000 per year. Enrollment in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) is available.
