An Interim Subject Matter Expert, Risk Management/Patient Safety is needed to support quality, risk management, and case review functions in a fully remote capacity.
This leader will report to the Senior Director, NCAL Risk Management and Patient Safety.
Key responsibilities include conducting sentinel event reviews, supporting peer review and utilization management activities, evaluating complex patient safety cases, and providing risk management and quality expertise across the organization.
The ideal candidate will bring strong emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and a thoughtful approach to navigating sensitive and complex cases. This leader should be collaborative, compassionate, and comfortable working through challenging situations with professionalism and discretion. Must be highly organized, patient-focused, and able to adapt quickly to changing needs. Excellent communication skills will be critical.
Must be available to start within 2-3 weeks of acceptance.
California RN licensure is highly preferred but not required.
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) certification required.
Must have at least three years of leadership experience, coupled with at least three years of experience in risk management, patient safety, and/or a quality department. Prior hospital or health plan experience is highly desirable along with a background in Womens Maternal and Child Health.

Compensation Details
Compensation Range: $160,000 to $170,000 annually.
The final compensation rate will be determined based on experience, education, training, location, internal equity, and budget considerations, in accordance with Fair Market Value evaluation. Additionally, some candidates may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, depending on the specific role, including but not limited to health insurance coverage and retirement benefits.
