Intermediate Accountant
Salary: $70,000-$95,000 + Discretionary Bonus

Our client, a Fortune 500 commercial property and casualty insurance company, is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join its growing accountingteam. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with strong financial reporting experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants exposure to complex accounting, reinsurance, and financial reporting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities for the Intermediate Accountant
  • Prepare GAAP financial statements, reporting packages, journal entries, and supporting schedules
  • Perform account reconciliations, research discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items
  • Handle reinsurance accounting, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reinsurance bordereau for brokers
  • Monitor cash settlements with profit centers and reinsurers
  • Support month-end close while ensuring all reporting deadlines are met
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiencies
Qualifications for the Intermediate Accountant
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong financial reporting experience required
  • Solid understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Experience working in a high-volume, transactional environment
  • Experience supporting multiple entities or business units preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • PeopleSoft experience is a plus
  • Property & Casualty insurance accounting experience is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
