Overview --------

5 Sutherland is a general medical/surgical unit that cares for patients with renal and liver disease, and those requiring inpatient rehabilitation. Patient diagnoses can include acute kidney and liver injury to end stage disease, including dialysis and transplant. Rehabilitation patients often have a diagnosis of traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other injury/disease requiring inpatient rehab. Patients range in age from neonates to young adult. 5 Sutherland also cares for patients with tracheostomies and other general medical/surgical patients. Job Summary

The Intermediate Care Nurse utilizes nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide comprehensive, age appropriate nursing care for low acuity assigned patients. Assists with the shift supervision of nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree ADN Required
  • Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
  • No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or Bachelors Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
  • Nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director)

Pay and Work Schedule

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience. This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
