We are seeking an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) to support the design and development of high-quality training and performance support solutions for Department of Defense (DoD) customers. The ideal candidate brings expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design methodologies, and technology-based learning delivery, with a strong background in government or military learning environments.


This job is full-time, in-person, located in Huntsville, AL, non-negotiable.


Responsibilities


+ Apply the ADDIE model to design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials and curricula for instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced eLearning environments.

+ Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), program managers, and other stakeholders to gather content and validate instructional approaches.

+ Develop instructional strategies, learning objectives, storyboards, course content, assessments, and evaluation metrics.

+ Create engaging and interactive multimedia learning content.

+ Analyze existing training programs to recommend improvements, modifications, or new course development.

+ Ensure all deliverables meed DoD standards and client expectations, including SCORM compliance and Section 508 accessibility.

+ Conduct formative and summative evaluations to ensure learning effectiveness and continuous improvement.

+ Support development of CDRL deliverables and have familiarity with creating and editing documents to be delivered to the customer.

+ Work well in a cross-functional team environment.


Qualifications


+ Prior military aviation maintenance and aviation training experience ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. This is non-negotiable.

+ Experience working directly with military learners.

+ Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training Development, or related field.

+ 5+ years of experience in instructional design, with at least 3 years supporting DoD or federal government training initiatives.

+ Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.

+ Proficiency in eLearning development tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

+ Experience designing for both in-person and digital training environments.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

+ Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.


Desired Qualifications:


+ Air Education and Training Command (or service equivalent) experience.

+ Maintenance / Instructor experience on US Air Force or US Navy fighter aircraft.

+ Experience developing content for a virtual and/or VR/AR environment.

+ Experience with SCORM, xAPI, and Section 508 compliance

+ Experience in Game Design using the Unity or Unreal engine.

+ Active Secret Clearance.
