MITRE Technology and Engineering's Systems Engineering Division delivers innovative, multidisciplinary systems engineering solutions that support MITRE and its diverse sponsor base. The division is a leader across government, industry, and academia in advancing next-generation systems engineering and applying best practices to complex national security and public sector challenges. Its technical expertise includes:

The Architecture Analysis Department research, develops, and applies advanced technologies in the following Systems Engineering areas:

• Model-Based System Architecting
• Architecture Analysis
• Digital Engineering Transformation

Architecture Analysis enables digital transformation by linking stakeholder needs, operational concepts, and engineering data into an integrated digital thread. The department applies model-based system architecting to define and evolve system structures, interfaces, behaviors, and dependencies for complex systems. The department also delivers architecture analysis through trade studies and assessments of performance, risk, and system interactions to support sound design and investment decisions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Intermediate Systems Engineer leverages and continuously develops systems engineering expertise to support the design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and systems-of-systems, as well as mission analysis for federal agencies. Responsibilities include:

• Use knowledge of systems and mission engineering, along with an understanding of sponsor needs, to identify areas where MITRE can provide meaningful impact.
• Apply modern engineering methods and tools, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics, to assess capability needs, requirements, architectures, designs, performance constraints and gaps, proposed changes, and verification and test approaches.
• Evaluate and compare alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques while exploring large trade spaces.
• Identify and develop metrics to measure and analyze key system attributes, including robustness, resiliency, interoperability, quality, and maintainability.
• Supporting requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes.
• Perform system design and development activities, including software development, systems modernization, and architecture development.
• Contribute to multiple tasks across several government-sponsored projects, collaborating effectively within small to large multidisciplinary teams.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• 2 years of experience in systems engineering and enterprise architecture
• Experience in systems engineering, mission engineering, and enterprise system design, integration, and modernization.
• Experience in requirements analysis, architecture development, interface management, trade-space analysis, and system verification and testing.
• Experience in applying modern engineering methods and tools, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Digital Engineering, data analytics, and quantitative analysis, to evaluate system capabilities, performance, resiliency, interoperability, and technical gaps.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tools/concepts in a variable environment of government sponsors
• Must have an active Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
• This position requires a minimum of 4 days on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret DoW clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, with demonstrated application of systems engineering principles to complex technical problems.
• Experience developing, integrating, or analyzing multidisciplinary models and simulations at the physics, engineering, mission, and/or socio-technical level to support system design, performance assessment, or trade-space analysis.
• Experience applying Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods and tools to support requirements development, system architecture, interface definition, design analysis, verification, and/or system lifecycle activities.

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$95,200 - $119,000 - $142,800 Annual
