College Intern - Contracts Administration and Materials Management (CAMM)

Join OCTA as a College Intern and gain hands-on experience in public-sector procurement, contract administration, and materials management. As part of the Contracts Administration and Materials Management (CAMM) department, you'll support the day-to-day activities that help OCTA obtain the goods and services needed to keep Orange County moving.

Under direct supervision, you will work alongside CAMM professionals and assist with procurement and contract administration activities, vendor research, public records requests, and department records. This opportunity provides valuable exposure to the processes behind public contracting while developing your analytical, organizational, communication, and business skills.

OCTA's College Intern Program is a year-round paid student/intern program. You will gain real-world work experience on meaningful projects under the guidance of experienced professionals. You will have opportunities to strengthen your problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills while benefiting from mentorship, career development, and internal networking.

The pay range is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. The work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12-month period.

What You'll Do

• Support CAMM staff with day-to-day procurement and contract administration activities.
• Assist with small-dollar procurements, including gathering information and supporting procurement documentation.
• Conduct vendor and contractor reference checks and assist with related research.
• Assist with researching, compiling, and preparing documents in response to public records requests.
• Support contract processing and distribution and help maintain accurate contract files and records.
• Assist with filing, document organization, records retention, and file archive and purge activities.
• Compile and organize procurement, vendor, and contract information for department use.
• Provide administrative and project support to CAMM staff as needed.
• Collaborate with CAMM professionals and other OCTA departments while learning about public-sector procurement and contracting processes.

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled full-time college student (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university.
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Contract Management, or a related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Interest in procurement, contracts, supply chain, public administration, or government operations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to research, compile, and accurately maintain information and records.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Professional, collaborative, and proactive approach with an interest in learning new processes and taking on increasing responsibility.
