Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Intern - Mechanical Engineer reports to the Team Lead, Mechanical Design on the Hardware Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will learn and participate in the development and testing of Silvus products. This role will also contribute to implementing novel design solutions to overcome challenges that come with compact devices.

 

This internship is full-time, fully onsite, Monday through Friday, at Silvus Technologies' HQ in the heart of vibrant West LA.

 

ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

R&D and design for packing electronic devices. Perform hands-on trouble shooting and failure analysis of electromechanical assemblies. Define and execute First Article Acceptance Test Plans and Design Verification Tests for new hardware. Analyze and test product thermal behavior to ensure proper functionality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

In-progress Bachelor's degree or in-progress graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical fields. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Aptitude for problem-solving and troubleshooting technical challenges. Must be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen) due to clients under U.S. government contracts. All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug testing.

 

PREferred KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience prototyping (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining) to accelerate design validation. Familiarity with FEA modeling and thermal analysis using simulation tools.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Office environment. Indoor air-conditioned facility. Lift equipment, up to 50lbs., for set-up of demonstrations and testing. Walking/Moving in the lab.

 

COMPENSATION

$28.60 - $33.80 / hourly [in-progress Bachelor's degree] $42.00 / hourly [in-progress Master's degree] $55.60 / hourly [in-progress PhD degree]
