Minimum Salary: $25.47 per hour

  • APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER.

Position Description:

The purpose of the mental health intern is to provide mental health services in the adult correctional facilities operated by the Department of Corrections. Duties include but are not limited to assessment of offender's behavioral health needs, providing groups, individual sessions, treatment plans, and documentation.

Qualifications:

Applicant must be pursuing a master's degree from an accredited institution in one of the following mental health fields: counseling, social, work, psychology, or marriage and family therapy.

All students are encouraged to apply, but preference may be given to applicants with a standing of Junior/Senior year, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.

Successful applicant(s) will be required to undergo a background investigation. An arrest/conviction record will not necessarily bar employment. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of a drug screening.
