Description of Work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

The Governor's Office Research Department is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual for an entry-level research internship. Interns will gain hands-on experience using public databases, media monitoring software, and other research tools to conduct background research, track media coverage, and create research products to inform key projects across the Governor's Office.

Internship Details:

Location: Raleigh, NC (hybrid)

Schedule: 15 weeks (minimum of 10 hours/week)

Term Dates: August 17, 2026 - December 4, 2026

Compensation: Internship offers a competitive one-time stipend of $560.00.

Key roles duties:

• Work closely with the Research team to help conduct due diligence on individuals and organizations that are involved with the Governor's Office.
• Track and catalogue media coverage for important events and initiatives.
• Collaborate across departments within the Governor's Office on ongoing projects and emerging issues.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the overall strategic planning of office initiatives.

Necessary Special Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, or a related field.
• Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize information and present it clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• A keen interest in public policy, government affairs, and the legislative process.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.
