P&ID Interpretation:
The intern will learn how to read P&IDs. He/she will become familiar with symbols, terminology, P&ID numbering, pipeline and instrument designation system.
Ethanol Production Process:
The intern will learn the phases of the ethanol production process such as cook, fermentation and distillation by completing a mass and energy balance. He/she will be acquainted with the chemicals being used at the ethanol process. He/she will learn the purpose and function of major equipment. Basic knowledge of the control scheme will be acquired.
Major Equipment:
The intern will learn about different type of equipment pieces used in an ethanol plant such as heat exchangers and pumps. He/she will learn about the different type of material used in the manufacturing the major equipment and piping.
Equipment Sizing:
The intern will learn how to size pumps and pipes by following the Cameron Hydraulic Data book and then he/she will learn how to use size them using software such as Pipe Flow Expert
Other Software:
The intern will be exposed to AutoCAD and Navisworks (navigation only)
Education/Certification:
Enrolled in college program related to Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or other Engineering field required
