ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs the set-up and break-down of amenities associated with special events, and programming
  • Performs routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of facilities, parks, and trails, keeping grounds debris-free
  • Aids in the clean-up of work sites, general construction tasks, and grounds maintenance utilizing brooms, shovels, landscaping trimmers, small equipment, and other tools as needed, and/or required
  • May assist with mechanical tasks in the Facilities Department - Fleet & Vehicle area
  • Operates City vehicle(s) to and from job-sites, exercising safe driving practices
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
  • Must be available to work flexible day, evening, and weekend hours for the season
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Ability to adhere to established procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to respond appropriately to verbal and written communication
  • Frequently uses various equipment to shovel, rake, sweep, mop, cut, mow, trim, etc.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and consistent performance.
  • Manage time, make sound decisions, and work independently.
  • Follow directions and relay work progress in an effective manner.
  • Follow safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • May occasionally be educated to operate motorized vehicle and power equipment

  • Has knowledge of or can readily learn various equipment, tools, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff members and the public.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple or detailed written or oral instructions.

Must be enrolled in Secondary or Post-Secondary Institution

Specific vision abilities required in this job include close and distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to distinguish and identify colors.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This role requires regular work in outdoor and variable field conditions, including unpaved or uneven surfaces, slippery areas, vibration, mud, and active job sites. Employees should expect routine exposure to weather elements such as heat, cold, wind, rain, and humidity, as well as proximity to wastewater, refuse, and related environmental conditions.
