About the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (HRC):

We know real Hoosier horsepower! It is the mission of the Indiana Horse Racing Commission to oversee pari-mutuel horse racing in Indiana, and to protect the integrity of the sport through active and diligent regulation.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Review and investigate practices within a state agency to ensure all laws, rules and regulations are being followed and applied fairly.
• Investigate a variety of security issues involving allegations, suspicions and/or violation(s) of any laws, rules or regulations as identified by agency management.
• Conduct inspections of agency facilities to determine whether security and safety procedures are in place and effective.
• Review personnel and fiscal records to ascertain misappropriation of public funds.
• Complete and submits investigative reports and memoranda of findings related to mismanagement of agency laws, rules, and regulations.
• Work with agency staff to resolve identified security and safety concerns.
• Assist in the review of applications for occupational licenses. employment background checks completed by the Indiana State Police, FBI, and other law enforcement agencies.
• Monitors the activities of all licensed personnel at the Indiana race track(s) and satellite facilities to ensure compliance with IHRC rules and regulations.
• Provide testimony at hearings, trials, appeals and criminal proceedings.
• Conduct searches and seizures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What Youll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

• Extensive knowledge of the principles, techniques, and terminology of current investigative practices.
• Extensive knowledge of security procedures.
• Considerable knowledge of all federal laws, state statues, assigned agency rules, policies, and procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of due process as well as criminal and civil liability.
• Ability to exercise both tact and persuasion in dealing with agency personnel.
• Ability to organize and conduct field investigations.
• Ability to present evidence at hearings.
• Ability to manage subordinate staff inclusive of supervision, discipline, performance evaluation, grievance procedures, overtime, etc.
• Effective communication skills.
• Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
