    REPORTS

    TO:

    Principal or designee, and the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment & Digital Platforms FUNCTION

    The Lead Teacher - STEM: Mathematics, Science & Engineering (Grades 9-12) serves as the instructional and

    organizational

    liaison

    for

    the

    high

    school

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    programs.

    The

    Lead

    Teacher

    supports

    curriculum

    coherence,

    assessment

    alignment,

    program

    development,

    interdisciplinary

    STEM

    initiatives,

    and

    effective

    communication

    while

    remaining

    a

    classroom

    teacher.

    The Lead Teacher works collaboratively with mathematics, science, and engineering faculty and building and

    district

    administration

    to

    support

    consistent

    implementation

    of

    district

    programs,

    instructional

    priorities,

    and

    student

    learning

    goals.

    This

    position

    carries

    no

    formal

    supervisory

    or

    evaluative

    authority.

    TERMS OF ASSIGNMENT

    The

    Lead

    Teacher

    shall

    have

    no

    duty

    periods .

    This

    position

    does

    not

    include

    supervisory,

    evaluative,

    or

    administrative

    authority

    over

    staff.

    RESPONSIBILITIES Department Leadership & Communication

    Serve

    as

    the

    lead

    liaison

    for

    the

    Grades

    9-12

    Mathematics,

    Science,

    and

    Engineering

    programs.

    Attend

    administrative

    meetings

    as

    scheduled

    to

    support

    communication,

    planning,

    and

    coordination.

    Create

    agendas

    for

    and

    facilitate

    department

    meetings

    for

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    staff.

    Support

    collaboration

    and

    communication

    among

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    faculty,

    particularly

    in

    areas

    of

    shared

    STEM

    programming

    and

    initiatives.

    Disseminate

    district

    and

    building-level

    information

    to

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    staff

    in

    a

    timely

    and

    consistent

    manner.

    Serve

    as

    a

    point

    of

    contact

    between

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    faculty

    and

    administration

    regarding

    departmental

    needs,

    concerns,

    programs,

    and

    initiatives.

    Promote

    collaboration

    and

    consistency

    within

    and

    across

    the

    STEM

    disciplines. Curriculum, Assessment & Program Coordination

    Work

    collaboratively

    with

    the

    Director

    of

    Curriculum,

    Instruction,

    Assessment

    &

    Digital

    Platofrms

    to

    support

    the

    development,

    review,

    implementation,

    and

    refinement

    of

    the

    Grades

    9-12

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    curricula.

    Facilitate

    Program

    of

    Studies

    review

    for

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    courses,

    including

    course

    descriptions,

    sequencing,

    prerequisites,

    and

    academic

    pathways.

    Coordinate

    department

    input

    related

    to

    student

    placement,

    acceleration,

    course

    sequencing,

    and

    program

    development.

    Support

    alignment

    of

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    curricula

    with

    applicable

    New

    Jersey

    Student

    Learning

    Standards

    and

    district

    instructional

    priorities.

    Support

    the

    alignment

    and

    coordination

    of

    common

    assessments,

    including

    benchmark

    assessments,

    midterm

    examinations,

    and

    final

    examinations,

    where

    applicable.

    Assist

    in

    reviewing

    and

    organizing

    departmental

    materials

    related

    to

    curriculum

    and

    assessment

    initiatives.

    Identify

    and

    facilitate

    meaningful

    interdisciplinary

    connections

    among

    mathematics,

    science,

    engineering,

    technology,

    and

    other

    related

    STEM

    programs.

    Support

    the

    development,

    implementation,

    and

    review

    of

    STEM-related

    courses,

    programs,

    pathways,

    competitions,

    and

    enrichment

    opportunities.

    Assist

    with

    the

    review

    of

    student

    achievement

    and

    assessment

    data

    to

    identify

    departmental

    strengths,

    needs,

    and

    areas

    for

    instructional

    focus. Instructional Support (Non-Supervisory)

    Provide

    collegial

    support

    to

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    teachers

    in

    implementing

    effective

    instructional

    and

    assessment

    practices.

    Serve

    as

    a

    peer

    model

    and

    instructional

    resource

    upon

    request.

    Facilitate

    collaboration

    and

    the

    sharing

    of

    instructional

    practices,

    resources,

    and

    strategies

    within

    and

    across

    STEM

    disciplines.

    Support

    new

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    teachers

    through

    mentoring

    and

    informal

    coaching,

    as

    appropriate.

    Share

    professional

    learning

    opportunities

    related

    to

    mathematics,

    science,

    engineering,

    STEM

    instruction,

    assessment,

    and

    curriculum.

    Assist

    in

    identifying

    departmental

    professional

    learning

    needs

    and

    communicate

    those

    needs

    to

    building

    and

    district

    administration.

    Engineering

    budgets

    in

    collaboration

    with

    building

    administration

    and

    the

    Director

    of

    Curriculum,

    Instruction,

    Assessment

    &

    Digital

    Platforms

    Assist

    with

    the

    inventory

    and

    organization

    of

    instructional

    supplies,

    materials,

    textbooks,

    laboratory

    resources,

    engineering

    equipment,

    and

    other

    departmental

    resources.

    Coordinate

    departmental

    requests

    for

    instructional

    materials,

    equipment,

    technology,

    subscriptions,

    and

    replacement

    resources.

    Support

    planning

    for

    science

    laboratory

    and

    engineering

    materials,

    equipment,

    technology,

    and

    instructional

    resources

    in

    collaboration

    with

    faculty

    and

    administration.

    Serve

    as

    the

    department

    point

    of

    contact,

    as

    appropriate,

    for

    vendors,

    academic

    competitions,

    enrichment

    opportunities,

    and

    mathematics-,

    science-,

    engineering-,

    and

    STEM-related

    programs.

    Assist

    administration

    in

    identifying

    short-

    and

    long-term

    instructional

    resource

    and

    equipment

    needs

    for

    mathematics,

    science,

    and

    engineering

    programs. Additional Responsibilities

    Attend

    evening

    parent

    orientation,

    curriculum,

    or

    program

    meetings

    related

    to

    mathematics,

    science,

    engineering,

    or

    STEM

    programming,

    as

    requested

    by

    the

    administration.

    Assist

    with

    department-related

    planning

    connected

    to

    district

    initiatives,

    state

    requirements,

    student

    achievement

    goals,

    or

    program

    development,

    as

    appropriate.

    Support

    special

    programs

    and

    initiatives

    related

    to

    mathematics,

    science,

    engineering,

    STEM

    education,

    academic

    acceleration,

    and

    college

    and

    career

    readiness.

    Support

    opportunities

    for

    students

    to

    engage

    in

    authentic

    STEM

    experiences,

    including

    interdisciplinary

    projects,

    competitions,

    research,

    and

    other

    enrichment

    opportunities,

    as

    appropriate.

    Perform

    other

    duties

    related

    to

    the

    mathematics,

    science,

    engineering,

    and

    STEM

    programs

    as

    assigned

    by

    the

    Principal

    or

    Director

    of

    Curriculum,

    Instruction,

    Assessment

    &

    Digital

    Platforms.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months, salary determined by Agreement between KEA and Kinnelon BOE. ANNUAL EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Achieve

    NJ

    the

    board's

    policy

    evaluations.
