Overview Dream Finders Homes is seeking an experienced Senior Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit team. The candidate will be an independent self-starter with strong attention to detail, a drive to accomplish goals and a focus on quality results. The Senior Internal Auditor will plan, execute, and lead various financial, operational and compliance audits, as well as internal control reviews designed to identify potential efficiencies, control enhancements, and process improvement opportunities. The Senior Internal Auditor works under minimal supervision on complex projects and may assist less experienced peers. This position has wide latitude for independent judgment and significant exposure to members of senior management.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels of the organizationExecute Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance activities, including testing of control design and operating effectiveness for entity-level, process-level, application, and select IT general controlsPartner with external auditors to support reliance on internal audit testing, including coordination of requests and alignment on documentation standardsAssist in audit planning activities, including risk assessments, process walkthroughs, documentation of narratives and flowcharts, and development of audit proceduresExecute audit procedures and SOX testing with limited supervision, ensuring work is completed accurately and on timeIdentify control deficiencies, assess risk and impact, and communicate observations and recommendations to management in a clear and concise mannerParticipate in audit status updates and closing meetings, presenting findings and recommendations as appropriatePrepare draft audit reports and support management in developing effective remediation plans that address root causesPerform follow-up procedures to validate completion of management action plansSupport special projects and operational audits as needed, based on departmental prioritiesStay current on evolving accounting/audit standards, SOX requirements, and industry trends, including risks relevant to the homebuilding and construction sectorKnowledge, Skills & Ability RequirementsDemonstrates a high level of integrity, professionalism, and accountabilityStrong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesSolid analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to various audiencesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with audit tools or data analytics is a plusQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Audit2-3 years of experience with a strong emphasis on SOX control testingPreferred AttributesBig 4 or other accounting / consulting firm experience preferredCPA, CIA or similar professional certification preferredFamiliarity with audit management platforms (e.g., Workiva)Work EnvironmentThe work environment is representative of an office/field settingThe noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderateReasonable accommodations can be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the described essential functions of the jobPhysical DemandsWhile performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear.
