Job Responsibilities

  • Creates and leads internal communications for the agency.
  • Writes, maintains, and distributes internal newsletter and daily news roundup.
  • Maintains and implements content calendar for internal communications and social media strategy.
  • Writes, develops, and maintains content for SCDC website and social media platforms.
  • Coordinates with wardens and staff at SCDCs 21 prisons and writes articles about programming, rehabilitative efforts, and other events.
  • Creates information for marketing campaigns, press releases and events.
  • Assists in writing press releases, video/photo editing, creating content for internal television communications.
  • Assists in monitoring social media platforms and responds to external media when needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A bachelors degree and relevant experience.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in journalism, mass communications, public relations or another closely related field and five (5) years of experience in internal communications.
