Internal Communications Plant Operations

Position Purpose

The Internal Communications Contractor will support the planning, development, coordination, and execution of internal communications for the Owensboro site. This role will help strengthen employee understanding of the sites priorities, U.S. Operations strategic direction, the company values, and key business initiatives through clear, timely, and engaging communications across available site and company channels.
The contractor will work closely with the U.S. Operations Communications/S&PD team, Owensboro Factory Management, and other relevant stakeholders to help translate priorities into practical, consistent communications that reach employees effectively.

Key Responsibilities
1. Support Owensboro Site Communications Strategy

Support the development and deployment of the Owensboro Operations communication plan in alignment with factory priorities, U.S. Operations messaging, and established communications guidelines. Help ensure communications are relevant for different employee groups, departments, and levels across the site.

2. Create and Coordinate Internal Communications Content
Draft, edit, and coordinate communications for key Owensboro priorities, including business updates, site initiatives, leadership messages, employee engagement activities, recognition moments, town halls, shift-level communications, and other internal campaigns.

3. Support Message Cascade and Channel Management
Help ensure consistent implementation and follow-up of market, U.S. Operations, and local key messages through the appropriate Owensboro channels. This includes preparing content that can be used by leaders, managers, and frontline communication channels to improve understanding of site objectives and priorities.

4. Support Site Events and Employee Engagement Activities
Assist with communications planning and execution for local events, employee engagement activities, site visits, leadership visits, recognition activities, and major workshops or meetings.

5. Partner with Owensboro and U.S. Operations Stakeholders
Liaise with Owensboro site stakeholders, U.S. Operations Communications, S&PD, and the broader manufacturing network to coordinate communication needs, gather input, align timing, and support execution of local and network-level messages.

6. Support Recognition and Culture Communications
Help coordinate and communicate Owensboro recognition programs, employee stories, culture moments, and other engagement-building content that reinforces local priorities, the company values, and a strong site culture.

7. Track Communication Activities and Effectiveness
Maintain a simple communications calendar or tracker for Owensboro activities, support follow-up on key campaigns, and help assess whether major communications were delivered effectively.

8. Support Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance Messaging
Reinforce site communications related to quality, environment, health, safety, and other required priorities in alignment with the company standards and site needs.

Required Experience and Skills
2 to 3 years of communications experience, including administrative work or employee engagement.
Strong written communications skills with the ability to translate business priorities into clear, concise, employee-friendly messages.
Experience supporting employee communications, leadership messages, newsletters, town halls, engagement campaigns, or site-level communication channels.
Strong stakeholder management skills and comfort working with leaders, cross-functional teams, and operational stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate timelines, and work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong judgment, attention to detail, ability to handle sensitive information appropriately, and commitment to consistent messaging.

Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience supporting communications in a manufacturing, operations, supply chain, or frontline workforce environment.
Experience coordinating employee events, site visits, town halls, or recognition programs.
Familiarity with change management communications, employee engagement campaigns, or culture-building initiatives.
Experience using intranet, digital signage, newsletters, Teams, or other employee communication channels.
Basic project management or communications calendar management experience.

Required Experience: 2 to 3 years of communications experience, including administrative work or employee experience; strong writing, stakeholder management, organization, and Microsoft Office skills
Nice-to-Have Skills: Internal communications experience in a manufacturing environment; event/town hall support; change communications; digital channel management
