Internal Medicine - Employed Group - North Port, Florida

Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group is seeking to employ a BE/BC  Internal Medicine physician to join our busy and established practice in North Port, Florida.

North Port is a rapidly growing community in Sarasota County experiencing explosive economic and population growth, ranking as one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. This boom is fueled by massive master-planned communities like Wellen Park, millions of square feet of new commercial and industrial space, major healthcare expansions, and a steady influx of new residents and businesses where professionals can build their careers while enjoying the lifestyle, amenities, and sense of community that make Southwest Florida such a desirable place to live.

In November 2025, SMH broke ground on a new $507 million hospital in North Port. Situated on a 32-acre site the health system owns on North Sumter Boulevard, SMH-North Port will be the citys first acute-care hospital, and the third hospital SMH has built in its 100-year history. When completed in 2028, SMH-North Port will be nine stories tall, with an adjacent 3-story medical office building. The hospital will initially open with 100 beds, with three floors of built-in shell space to quickly double capacity to 208 beds as demand grows. The south county campus is designed to grow with the community, with the capacity to increase to more than 400 beds in the future.

Practice Information:

• Join two Family Medicine physicians and one Internal Medicine physician in an established, growing practice.
• Outpatient-only position with no OB responsibilities
• FPGs Medical Hospitalist Group manages inpatient admissions across all hospitals.
• Expanded access model with extended hours, offering greater patient convenience and enhanced physician scheduling flexibility to support work-life balance.
• Expected clinic volume is approximately 18 patients per day.
• Call is from 4:30 PM-8:30 AM and is limited to low-volume, phone-only coverage.
• Sarasota Memorial Hospital operates a busy 22-bed freestanding emergency department in North Port, located in the same building as the outpatient clinic.
• EMR system: EPIC

• Contract includes a 2-year guaranteed base salary. Physicians can transition to a generous pay model after 2 years.

• Five (5) days and $3,500 Continuing Medical Education per year.
• Four (4) weeks of PTO year 1 and 5 weeks years 2 and beyond.

• As an employee of a public, State of Florida organization, physicians are entitled to sovereign immunity, no tail insurance is necessary should you leave our practice.
• We are a not-for-profit organization - 501(c)(3). Physicians can participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program if employed by FPG.
• No State income tax in Florida.
