APD/Core Faculty Member/Associate Program Director - Hospitalist - Internal Medicine Residency Program

Location: HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency Program - Thompson Peak Medical Center, John C. Lincoln Medical Center

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced physician to join our Internal Medicine Residency Program as a Core Faculty Member or Associate Program Director, depending on level of experience. This role involves approximately 8 inpatient hospital medicine shifts per month and a significant role in the development and implementation of the point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum, resident assessment, and quality assurance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide high-quality inpatient care during 8 hospital medicine shifts per month.
  • Supervise and mentor residents and medical students during inpatient rotations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement evidence-based practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Educational Duties:

  • Develop and lead the point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum for residents.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops on POCUS for residents.
  • Conduct POCUS training for medical students during IM clerkship
  • Assist pre-clinical faculty in teaching ultrasound to medical students during pre-clinical coursework
  • Assess residents' proficiency in POCUS and provide constructive feedback.
  • Conduct clinical teaching during patient care activities and didactic sessions.
  • Participate in the evaluation and assessment of residents' and students clinical performance.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to residents and students in their professional development.
  • Serve on program committees including Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee
  • Participate in didactic activities including morning report, grand rounds, and academic half day.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine.
  • Eligible for Arizona State License
  • Preferred minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in hospital medicine.
  • Proficiency in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) and experience in curriculum development.
  • Strong commitment to resident education and mentorship.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives is preferred.
