Re: Mentor Educators - School Year 2026-2027
The above captioned positions are brought to the attention of all teaching and administrative personnel. This position is a one-year appointment and is pending funding.
Qualifications: 1.Must be a certified educator (teacher, guidance, adjustment counselor, nurse, etc.) 2.Must have a minimum of 6 years successful teaching experience, with at least 3 years in Brockton. 3.Must be recommended by a principal or immediate supervisor to be assigned a protégé 4.Interest in or experience with mentoring new educators preferred. 5.For high school, mentors with similar certifications are preferred.
Responsibilities: 1.Attend mentor training with district mentor leaders. 2.Work as a mentor to a first-year educator 3.Work approximately 2 hours per week mentoring a new educator. 4.Participate in annual mentor training sessions. 5.Work closely with building administrator as needed. 6.Work in protégés work environment (classroom, office, etc.) when possible. 7.Attend mentor/protégé general meeting on mentoring. 8.Share information with protégés concerning school and district policies and procedures. 9.Link protégés to appropriate resources 10.Work with protégés to develop a log of activities. 11.Offer support to protégés (for example: sharing teaching strategies, classroom observations, demonstration lessons, modeling professionalism, professional development activities, team teaching, modeling lessons)
Compensation: $1,500
