Overview
The AI and Data Solutions Intern will be responsible for supporting the development, testing, and implementation of AI and data solutions that improve business processes across MED Institute.
This position is a 6+ month, paid, internship located in West Lafayette, Indiana. It is offered for a period extending from October 2026 through Spring 2027 (exact dates depend on school calendars.) This position includes 401(k) options and a free gym membership while an Intern. All internships provide hands-on experience with meaningful projects in the Medical Device Manufacturing Industry.
Responsibilities
Assist in identifying opportunities to apply AI/ML and data solutions to improve business processes;
Support the design, development, testing, and refinement of AI/ML models and data-driven applications under the guidance of technical staff;
Assist with collecting, cleaning, organizing, and documenting data used in AI/ML and data projects;
Help implement, configure, and troubleshoot AI/ML tools and software used across the organization;
Support the creation of reports and dashboards for business decision-making;
Document AI/ML and data project workflows and results for internal reference; and
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a college program in computer science, data science, information technology, engineering, or a related field;
Basic knowledge of, or coursework in, programming, data analysis, or machine learning concepts;
Teachable, positive attitude with a genuine willingness to learn and to help;
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
Conscientious, with a good work ethic and attention to detail;
Comfortable working in a team setting with multiple priorities and deadlines;
Professional and personable demeanor; and
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Teams, word processing, and databases.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. MED Institute does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN) for this employment position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to generative AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel); and
Prior coursework or project experience applying AI/ML or data analysis to a real-world problem.
