NONPROFIT DEVELOPMENT AND SPECIAL EVENTS INTERN
Part-time – Fall 2026 
 
Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) is seeking a current college student, graduate student, or recent college graduate who is interested in serving as an intern and providing a wide range of special event, database, administrative, and general support to SARRC’s Development Team for the 2026 Fall Semester (approximately August/September – December 2026).

In return, SARRC will provide an opportunity for the intern to gain experience in and familiarity with areas such as fundraising, special events, and the day-to-day operations of a large nonprofit organization. The Development Intern will report to the Development Operations Manager.
 
Your Role at SARRC
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist with coordination of the 2026 Yes Day Walk for Autism event (Sun., Oct. 25 at Tempe Beach Park)
    • Coordinating incentive prize solicitations and pick-up
    • Assisting with marketing material organization
    • Assisting with team captain outreach phone calls and follow-up
    • Assisting with outreach to companies to register company/organization teams
    • Assisting with the internal fundraising campaign needs
    • Assisting with day-of event logistics (preferred availability the entire week of October 19-25 with the ability to increase paid hours during event week)
  • Assist with administrative needs of the 2027 Community Breakfast
  • Assist with research on potential third-party fundraisers, corporate, foundation, and individual donors
  • Assist Development team with stewardship activities 
  • Assist with entering data and support items into Raiser’s Edge NXT cloud-based database
  • Assist with mailings, filing, and special projects as needed
  • Ability to attend weekly department staff meetings held on Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. – Noon, preferred but not required.
 
Who You Are
 
  • Currently seeking a current college student, current graduate student, or recent college graduate with a degree in or pursuing a degree in Non-profit Management, Communications, Marketing, or Business
  • Desire to learn more about fundraising, philanthropy and special event operations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with fundraising databases and special events is a plus but not required
  • Great interpersonal skills and attention to detail and eagerness to work alongside a Development team of 9 staff members with careers at SARRC spanning from 6 months to 13 years!
