Internship - EHS Environmental Specialist

The Perryman Company is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated summer intern to join our Environmental Health and Safety team in 2027!  Our EHS team ensures that we are up to date and compliant with Pennsylvania’s environmental health and safety standards.

Key Result Accountabilities

• Individual projects will be developed environmental compliance with PADEP/EPA regulations and permits.
• Maintain records and conducts testing as required by applicable permits.
• Perform assigned environmental tasks including preparing samples, waste stream management, auditing for compliance, and recording test results.
• Monitor the general work environment, inspect buildings and machines environmental violations, and recommend changes/improvements opportunities.
• Review plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to make sure that they meet environmental requirements.
• Support facilities to comply with all Federal, State, and Local Environmental regulations.
• Work as an individual or in a team to develop or modify existing environmental work instructions, policies, or procedures.
• Identify and correct potential environmental issues by inspecting facilities, machinery, and equipment.
• Conduct incident investigations and enter them into the ETQ investigation tracking system.
• Be an active participant in the safety committees at each facility.
• Interact on the floor with Operators and Supervisors to find solutions to environmental related issues.

Requirements

• In the process of obtaining a degree in Environmental Engineering or any other related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to report and correct environmental issues.
• Must be detail orientated.
• Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
