Join our internship program and jumpstart your career in public service with a paid City internship. Gain hands-on experience across one of the many diverse departments within the City of Tallahassee.

Job Specifications

Interns work under the direct supervision and receive on-the-job training in one of the Citys departments, from Underground Utilities to Aviation. Assignments are designed to build practical skills, foster professional development, and provide insight into public sector careers. Work is reviewed through assigned projects and process evaluations.

Minimum Training and Experience

Undergraduate Intern

  • Must be enrolled as a student at a college or university and have completed at least 45 semester hours of course work; or
  • Must be enrolled as a student at a technical/vocational school and have completed at least half of required course hours.

or

Graduate Intern

  • Must possess a bachelors degree and be currently enrolled in coursework for a masters degree or higher in the field in which the position is assigned.

At the time of application, applicant must be authorized to work in the United States and must maintain satisfactory academic standing.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and will generally start at $15.00 per hour.

Benefits Information

This is a temporary position. Temporary employees (Non-OPS) are not eligible to participate in the Citys benefits programs.
