Program Overview
Curing cancer. Ending Alzheimer's. Powering the next medical breakthrough.
These are just some of the missions driving life sciences — an industry spanning pharma, biotech, medtech, diagnostics, and digital health, to name a few. And it takes more than scientists to get there: advancing human health relies on every functional area, from business, marketing, and communications to finance, data, policy, and operations. Which means there's a path in, no matter what you're studying.
Already dreaming of a career redefining what's possible in medicine? This is how you get entrenched — building real relationships, real experience, and a real head start before you even graduate.
Learn the Life Sciences is an engagement of the BioCatalyst Program, funded through TEDCO's Equitech Growth Fund, built to give you the foundational knowledge, hands-on experience, and industry connections to launch your career — no prior background required.
You'll start with three weeks of immersive, bootcamp-style training — easing you in from self-paced learning to fully in-person — where we power you with the knowledge and skills to succeed. From there, the industry becomes your classroom: every article you write, every professional you meet, every company you visit, and every event you attend builds your professional presence — all shaped around your own schedule and interests, with us in your corner the entire way.
This isn't just an internship you complete — it's a semester where BioBuzz is actively championing you: your visibility, your network, and your next opportunity.

What You'll Do
Get Published, Build Your Portfolio
Each week, you'll publish one piece from the rotation below — live on BioBuzz's platform, reaching 400,000+ readers nationally through our website, email newsletters, and social channels. Beyond the byline, each category is designed to build something real for you — a skill, a relationship, or a connection you'll carry beyond the internship.
Campus Spotlight
Cover something happening on your own campus — a lab doing interesting research, a professor's recent grant or publication, a student club or org making an impact, a new certificate program, a career fair recap.
What you get: Practice reporting, interviewing, and writing — plus a reason to build relationships with faculty, researchers, and student leaders on your own campus that can turn into longer-term involvement (research opportunities, club leadership, mentorship) well beyond this internship.
Employer Spotlight
Cover a company hiring in the region — their internship pipeline, what they look for in candidates, a hiring manager's advice to students. A chance to dig into companies and functional areas you're genuinely interested in.
What you get: A direct relationship with an employer in your field — a real conversation with a hiring manager or team member at a company you'd actually want to work for.
Alumni Spotlight
Interview an alumnus from your institution — a recent grad finding their footing, an industry professional who's navigated the path, or a founder building their own company.
What you get: A new connection who already knows the path — a friend who can help you navigate, a mentor in your corner, or an employer who's hiring (present or future).
Dealer's Choice
Yours to shape. Write a personal reflection, spotlight something new, or double down on whichever category is resonating most that week.
What you get: Room to write about what's actually on your mind, and flexibility to lean into whichever category is building the most value for you.
Skills You'll Build
Life sciences careers span far more than the lab — and so does this internship. Along the way, you'll gain hands-on experience in:
