Learning Resources Technician Intern Academic, Learning Resource Center, Soldotna, Alaska Alaska Christian College JOB TITLE: Learning Resources Technician DEPARTMENT: Learning Resource Center (Academic) REPORTS TO: Learning Resource Center Manager STATUS: Full-time, Stipend, Exempt (Grant-funded position), 9 months Start: August 2026 PURPOSE: Under the direction of the Learning Resource Center Manager, the intern will be involved with day-to-day operations in the Learning Resource Center (including Textbook Services). Will include development of paraprofessional, technical services, technology, and management roles in library/media center/resource center operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management/administration skills Word processing skills Materials circulation via Populi Library Searching and retrieving bibliographic records in Populi Library and all full-text and citation databases and products Shelving LRC materials Collection maintenance through shelf reading Collection maintenance through participation in electronic inventory Bibliographic short entry (BSE) for manually added data in Populi Library Importing bibliographic records from exterior utilities and editing records in the local catalog Unpacking and sorting new materials and gift books Materials processing Safety/security oversight including opening and closing the LRC from time-to-time Materials preservation, including mending materials and preparing materials for the bindery Maintain syllabi notebooks Annotate syllabi bibliographies Produce annotated bibliographies and develop subject specialties Attend all appropriate staff and faculty meetings Maintain supply inventory Monitor research computers for access directly to research databases Monitor research computers and apprise of equipment malfunctions or access issues Other duties as assigned/requested

Must be able to pass a background check.
General Internship Guidelines
WORKING CONDITIONS: These duties will be conducted in an office environment with limited exposure to hazardous materials. The majority of the shift will be spent seated and working on a computer. Must have adequate sight to meet the responsibilities of the job. Must be able to lift 40 pounds on an occasional basis or ask for assistance loading boxes on a cart. DRESS CODE: Within the office, "business casual" dress is expected. Jeans are acceptable as long as they are clean and well-kept. If any questions arise regarding what is appropriate, speak with the supervisor.
