This internship provides hands-on exposure to commercial HVAC and plumbing projects while developing valuable skills in project coordination, construction management, and mechanical systems.This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in building a career in construction management, engineering, or the mechanical construction industry.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination.Support Project Managers and Project Engineers with day-to-day project activities.Gain exposure to HVAC and plumbing drawings, specifications, and construction documents.Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation.Help track project progress, schedules, and action items.Coordinate with project teams, field personnel, subcontractors, and vendors as needed.Participate in project meetings and site visits.Assist with maintaining organized and accurate project records.Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and turnover documentation.Learn VMG's project management processes, safety standards, and quality requirements.RequirementsCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.Interest in commercial construction, HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical systems.Basic ability to read or willingness to learn construction drawings and specifications.Strong organizational and time management skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Willingness to learn, ask questions, take initiative, and gain hands-on industry experience.Previous construction experience is a plus but not required.LocationThis is an in-office internship based at VMG's headquarters in Reston, VA, with opportunities to visit project sites throughout the DMV area.Compensation & Internship ExperiencePay: $25.00 per hourThis paid internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience within the mechanical construction industry.Interns will have the opportunity to:Work alongside experienced construction professionals.Gain exposure to active commercial HVAC and plumbing projects.Learn project management and construction processes from preconstruction through project closeout.Participate in project meetings and jobsite visits.Develop technical, communication, and projectBuild valuable industry experience while exploring long-term career opportunities in mechanical construction.About Vertical Mechanical GroupVertical Mechanical Group is a full-service HVAC and Plumbing contractor specializing in large-scale commercial construction projects.
