Internship Supervisor and Staff Psychologist

The Rosemead School of Psychology at Biola University is conducting a search for an Internship SupervisorStaff Psychologist to begin in May 2026. Strong candidates will be clinical or counseling psychologists licensed in California with significant clinical and supervisory experience. Ideally, this person will have teaching experience as well. The successful candidate will serve at the Biola Counseling Center (BCC) administered by Rosemead. BCC serves both student and community clients functioning as a training clinic and an approved APA-accredited internship.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a psychologist to join the BCC team and enjoy a blend of clinical supervision and teaching in the broader context of an academic community. Position Description

The Internship SupervisorStaff Psychologist is responsible for the clinical supervision of BCC doctoral psychology interns in collaboration with the Internship Training Director. The Internship Supervisor serves as a primary clinical supervisor for two of four full-time interns, providing oversight for interns, clients, and overall professional development. The Internship SupervisorStaff Psychologist also assists the Internship Training Director with administrative functions and clinical training activities in support of the BCC internship program.

The Internship SupervisorStaff Psychologist reports to the Internship Training Director.

Essential Duties

Clinical Activities

  • Provide primary clinical supervision to two of four doctoral psychology interns, including all clinical and consultative activities and services they perform utilizing video review.
  • Each intern is on-call 24/7 for one week per month.
  • The Internship Supervisor is the first point of contact for their two primary supervisees every other week.

Review, edit, and approve all clinical and crisis documentation for primary supervisees.

Develop and deliver clinical training seminars, didactic workshops, and supervision experiences that enhance intern clinical training and professional development. Weekly didactic series cover Clinical & Crisis Skills, Multicultural Competence & Spiritual Integration, Outreach Consultation & Research, and Self-Care & Spiritual Growth. Weekly supervision includes group video supervision, supervision of groups, and supervision of supervision.

Evaluate the clinical and professional functioning of BCC interns three times per year, initial, mid-year, and final, as directed by the Internship Training Director.

Participate in student care consultations and collaborate with Student Development staff in support of students of concern as needed and/or directed by the Internship Training Director.

Oversee intern provision of and provide occasional requested and initiated proactive outreach consultation and educational programming for Biola University students, faculty, and staff on topics that promote the overall health and wellness of the campus community.

Participate in all aspects of supervision training and case disposition at the BCC as needed and/or directed by the Internship Training Director. The Internship Supervisor is available to consult/supervise for crises that arise outside of their every other week coverage.

Administrative Activities

  • Complete and submit required documentation for state regulatory boards and interns academic programs as directed by the Internship Training Director.
  • Collaborate with the Internship Training Director in evaluating interviewing and ranking BCC intern candidates each year.
  • Document all orientation, clinical training seminars, workshops, and supervision experiences developed and delivered to interns as directed by the Internship Training Director.
  • Document all on-call crisis contacts, outreach consultation, and educational programming done by interns for the Biola University campus community as directed by the Internship Training Director.
  • Collaborate with the Internship Training Director in monitoring, evaluating, and improving the elements and structure of the BCC doctoral internship program to ensure APA accreditation.
  • Assist interns with post-doctoral applications, recommendations, licensing, and career planning.
  • Document all psychotherapy and crisis services for BCC clients, Biola students, and student care consultations per center and legal and ethical guidelines.

Required Skills

Qualifications

  • General: Personal characteristics that include spiritual maturity, responsibility, desire, and capacity to work with multiple diverse constituents of the BCC and as a willing team member are required for this position. As a private Christian University, Biola seeks faculty who embrace Biolas mission to equip students to serve and reflect the diverse kingdom of God. A compatible interest in relating psychological theory, research, and practice to the Christian faith and a desire to work at the intersection of faith, psychodynamic theory, and diverse clinical practice are also required.
  • Educational: A PsyD or PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and licensure in California are required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of experience providing clinical supervision and training for doctoral psychology trainees is required, as is experience providing treatment to adult outpatient psychotherapy clients. Expertise in interventions relevant to the needs of a university campus clientele will also be valuable.
