Gaston County Public Health is committed to protecting, promoting and preserving the health and well-being of all Gaston County residents. An hourly salary range of $18.56 -$21.57 is anticipated for this position.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED certificate is required. Candidate must be fluent in Haitian Creole or Spanish. The selected candidate will be required to complete a Language Proficiency Test, which will be administered at the time of hire. Valid license to operate a motor vehicle.
Special knowledge, abilities, skills physical requirements and other factors: Knowledge of medical terminology in both English and Haitian Creole or Spanish is essential. Knowledge and acceptance of diverse cultures is required. After hire, the interpreter is required to take a medical terminology test within 6 months. If the test is not passed on the first attempt, the interpreter must retake and successfully pass the test before the end of the 9-month probationary period to maintain employment. This position may be required to work at any of the three locations and on the mobile units as needed.
The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.
