Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Academic Affairs, led by the Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, comprises the university's colleges, schools and libraries, along with other academic support and administrative units. The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is composed of departments that function to increase the supply of primary care physicians to serve the state; improve the health and well-being of the region; and train physicians who will meet the healthcare needs of the state. The ECU Brody School of Medicine is aligned with ECU Health as a clinically integrated academic healthcare organization. The lnterprofessional Clinical Simulation Program (ICSP) at the Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) provides access to simulation-based education for learners across the Health Sciences Campus and ECU Health Medical Center. The program collaborates closely with ECU Health Medical Center in offering educational activities to Graduate Medical Education, EastCare, and other hospital staff. The mission of the Clinical Simulation Program is to promote excellence in clinical care, promote patient and learner safety, and improve multidisciplinary team performance using simulation modalities. The ICSP is a fully accredited program by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. The ICSP is moving into a new 30,000 sq ft Simulation Center in the Center for Medical Education in 2027.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Brody School of Medicine lnterprofessional Clinical Simulation Program is seeking a temporary lnterprofessional Nurse Educator to provide interprofessional clinical, educational, and technical expertise in the development and implementation of simulation activities. This individual will work approximately 1 day per week. A typical day will be 8am-5pm. Occasional work outside normal business hours (8am-5pm required). Specific dates will be assigned based on class schedules (typically 3-6 months in advance).
Duties will include -
Instruction: 90%
standards of best practice in simulation.
o Obtain vital signs, medical history, chief complaint, and health history.
o Assess mental health status.
o Convey findings to care team.
Administration (10%)
Note: Other duties as assigned.
Contingent on availability of funding.
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
An active registered nursing license with the North Carolina Board of Nursing is required.
