Community Solutions Inc is seeking an Intervention Specialist to join our team at our Danbury AIC program. The AIC, or Alternative in the Community program is a community-based alternative to incarceration and provides multifaceted intervention services for offenders awaiting trial, or who are on probation or parole. The program uses Motivational Interviewing techniques and curricula-drive, evidence-based models designed to assess the needs of each client to reduce individual risk factors. As an Intervention Specialist, your role will be to facilitate positive change in client behavior through the facilitation of evidence-based group sessions based on assessments made through the use of motivational enhancement strategies. You will work closely with clients to help develop individual goals and make positive changes in their lives.
Schedules Available: Tuesday/Thursday12:00pm to 8:00pm and Monday/Wednesday/Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
Starting wage: $25.72 per hour
Position Overview
- This position will always be the lead for the domestic violence groups, but will also be assigned to additional interventions at any time.
- Attend monthly domestic violence group clinical supervision, provided by CSSD.
- After attending the Train the Trainer Domestic Violence Curriculum training, train co-workers and supervisors the Domestic Violence Curriculum.
- Actively participate in Service Team Meetings by presenting new client assessments, clients nearing completion of service, any clients with poor attendance or participation and presenting any new cycles that clients can be placed in. Provide and elicit peer support for client issues as needed.
- Responsible for entering all new referrals to interventions they facilitate immediately following the Service Team Meeting into CDCS and SM.
- Prepare, plan and facilitate individual and group sessions with integrity and fidelity to curriculum/manual as scheduled. Seek approval from the Program Director prior to deviating from the group schedule.
- Schedule and conduct make-up sessions as needed.
- Document the group and individual sessions into both CSI and CSSD data collection systems on the same day the information is received.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Service Plans.
- Must meet or exceed goals established by the funding source for completion rates of each intervention facilitated. Schedule, conduct, and document individual counseling sessions that address client personal issues and program performance. Enter each session into CSI and CSSD data collection systems on the day it is held.
- Maintain client files and ensure compliance with Agency policy regarding confidential information. This confidentiality must be maintained even if you are no longer an employee of CSI.
- Submit pre-trial progress reports to Supervisor 4 days before due date on all assigned clients. All pre-trial reports are to be submitted to the court 2 days prior to the court date.
- Submit Monthly progress reports for probation to supervisor 4 days before date due on all assigned clients. All progress reports are due to probation by the 10th of each month.
- Serve as a role model to clients and staff by modeling pro-social behaviors.
- Record all group and individual sessions with clients and follow procedure to upload these recordings for quality assurance review.
- Actively participate in quality assurance review session and apply new strategies and techniques presented.
- Register for and attend all required trainings and refreshers including but not limited to MI and group facilitation.
- Participate in the administration and collection of WAI surveys.
- Secure urines from same sex clients and complete all required paperwork and electronic documentation into CSI and CSSD data collection systems on the day the data is obtained.
- Monitor case load to ensure all urines and breathalyzes required are randomly requested and are secured.
- Complete incident reports as needed and submit to PD prior to leaving shift.
- Communicate client non-compliance to the referral source within 24 hours. Document communication in CSI data collection system.
- May be required to perform tasks carried out by the Case Manger as directed.
- Provide coverage of front desk duties as assigned.
- Maintain a working knowledge of and abide by the Agency's programs, policies, procedures and code of ethics.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree plus (1) year experience in domestic violence training and one year in experience in domestic violence group facilitation. Education may be substituted with relevant experience on a one for one basis.
- Candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
- One year experience in teaching, training and/or group facilitation preferred.
- Possess sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
