Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Follows through on instructional plans as directed, and reviews with IS to assure goals are being attained;
Communicates clearly and accurately;
Responds to students appropriately;
Provides care and supervision of students in both instructional and non-instructional areas/times;
Transports and supervises students on school grounds and during community outings;
Assists in daily curricular activities such as bus duty, lunch duty, field trips and/or other preschool activities.
Implements classroom management procedures, strategies and techniques;
Assists in all areas of Daily Living Skills;
Creates an environment of respect and rapport;
Establishes an environment conducive for learning;
Establishes and maintains clear and consistent standards of classroom behavior;
Maintains physical space in a safe and suitable learning environment;
Participates in educational activities during instruction, as assigned by Intervention Specialist or Preschool Director;
Participates in the planning and preparation of daily activities as directed by instructor and administration;
Assists in the implementation of instructional programs for each student;
Becomes familiar with instructional goals for each student;
Follows Preschool Plan for home visits, parent conferences and meetings;
Provides developmentally-appropriate feedback to students;
Participates on teams and committees, as assigned;
Prepares materials and supplies;
Maintains accurate records to include IEP Progress, behavior data, attendance, etc.;
Communicates with families in accordance with instructor’s direction and expectations.
Professional Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes and maintains positive collaboration with students, parents/guardians, and others.
Participates in required in-services including but not limited to: Mandt, van training, CPR, delegated nursing, child abuse, universal precautions, MUI/UI, and others as required by administration.
Maintains certification in areas required by the Board/licensure requirements and others as required by administration.
Maintains confidentiality of student information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Performs a variety of tasks including safe lifting, feeding, and assisting in toileting while practicing wheelchair safety.

High School Diploma/GED.
Willingness to enroll in and complete Childhood Development Associates Certification (CDA), or Associates in Early Childhood (Preschool only).
Eligible for ODE Educational aide certificate (Preschool and School only).
Experience working in a Special Education classroom setting with young children or youth.
Experience lifting and transferring of students is an essential part of this job. Experience assisting students with areas of daily living skills and educational programs under an IEP, preferred.
