Position Overview

The Interventional Radiologist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating disorders and diseases through advanced imaging techniques and procedures. This role involves delivering age-appropriate medical care through assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, while also focusing on the prevention of adverse events and ensuring follow-up care. The position encompasses four key areas: clinical practice, education, leadership, and professional development. Collaboration with colleagues and other healthcare professionals is essential to provide safe, effective, and patient-centered care, achieving optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills with patients, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary team members, while prioritizing quality and safety in patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver radiology services based on evidence-based guidelines in a timely manner.
  • Conduct interventional procedures and manage any complications that arise during or after these procedures.
  • Thoroughly review medical records and maintain communication with referring clinicians.
  • Perform CT and ultrasound-guided biopsies, drainages, vascular access procedures, IVC filter placements and retrievals, nephrostomy and cholecystostomy placements, angiography, and embolization.
  • Interpret and evaluate the results of diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Utilize picture archiving and communication systems to review and transmit images and information.
  • Communicate examination results and diagnostic findings to referring physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Maintain accurate medical records in line with medical staff standards, documenting evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, referrals, and consultations in compliance with NCQA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards. Fully utilize the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives, particularly in areas with a high risk of error.
  • Participate in continuing education to enhance and maintain expertise.
  • Implement protocols related to medications, resuscitation, emergencies, power failures, and infection control.
  • Act as a teleradiologist for facilities lacking on-site radiologists.
  • Adhere to medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations, fostering a professional atmosphere.
  • Treat all individuals with courtesy, dignity, and respect, considering their views and feelings.
  • Maintain high levels of patient satisfaction and demonstrate positive interpersonal skills.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Doctorate Degree in Radiography
  • Credentials: Physician MD
  • Experience: Relevant experience in the field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Advanced degrees or certifications
  • Credentials: Board Certification from the American Board of Radiology
  • Experience: Additional relevant experience in interventional radiology
