3. Physician Presence Requirement

4. Flexibility in Clinic Hours
Clinic hours can be adjusted by the Chief of Staff (COS) if needed for patient care

5. Off-Hours / On-Call Coverage

The Contractor shall provide Board Certified Interventional Radiology (IR) Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). The VA Radiology Services follow the standards and guidelines set forth by American College of Radiology (ACR). A contractor providing onsite IR service shall provide services that meet or exceed the American College of Radiology Guidelines
Services Provided: The Contractor shall provide Board Certified Interventional Radiology (IR) Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). The VA Radiology Services follow the standards & guidelines set forth by American College of Radiology (ACR). A contractor providing onsite IR service shall meet or exceed ACR practice parameters and technical standards
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM
Plus:
On-call coverage (nights, weekends, holidays)
Emergency call-back (must arrive within 60 minutes)
Staffing Requirement
Minimum 2 physicians on-site at all times
Total staffing: 2 Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs)
Must provide backup coverage within 2 hours if needed
Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive Interventional Radiology services to U.S. Veterans, meeting or exceeding national clinical standards, while fully complying with VA policies and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care (H90% of role)
Perform a full range of IR procedures, including:
Biopsies (lung, liver, bone, soft tissue)
Drainage procedures (abscess, pleural, biliary)
Vascular interventions (angioplasty, stents, embolization)
Dialysis access procedures
Tumor ablation
Central venous access
Provide:
Image-guided interventions (CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy)
Conscious sedation when required
2. Patient Management
Evaluate and treat patients
Review consults and next-day cases (&Client;2 hours daily)
Provide post-procedure care and follow-ups
Manage complications
Educate patients at discharge
4. On-Call & Emergency Duties
Be available within 15 minutes for calls
Arrive on-site within 60 minutes when called back
Provide weekend and holiday coverage
5. Documentation & Records
Document all care in VA Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Ensure:
Accuracy
Timeliness
Compliance with VA and federal laws
Maintain strict confidentiality (HIPAA, Privacy Act)
7. Patient Safety & Compliance

Qualifications
Required:
Board Certification in Radiology
