Role Summary

The Interventional Radiology / Cardiology Radiologic Technologist is a highly skilled clinical professional who plays a critical role in advanced diagnostic and interventional procedures. This position combines technical expertise, sterile technique, and real-time clinical awareness to support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Working within a collaborative procedural team, you will contribute directly to life-saving interventions by ensuring precision imaging, supporting complex procedures, and maintaining the highest standards of patient safety. This role is ideal for a technologist who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about excellence in both patient care and imaging.

Duties & Responsibilities

Advanced Imaging & Fluoroscopy

  • Operate fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems during vascular, non-vascular, and cardiac catheterization procedures

  • Ensure optimal image quality, patient positioning, and equipment functionality

  • Perform image post-processing and ensure accurate transfer to PACS

  • Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety standards, including ALARA principles

  • Prepare procedure rooms and verify imaging readiness prior to each case

Scrub & Procedural Support

  • Function as a scrub technologist using sterile technique during interventional procedures

  • Prepare and manage instruments, catheters, guidewires, sheaths, and procedural trays

  • Anticipate physician needs and respond efficiently during procedures

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and procedural workflows

Monitoring & Hemodynamic Support

  • Record and monitor hemodynamic data, pressures, and procedural events

  • Operate and troubleshoot monitoring systems, including ECG and oxygen saturation

  • Accurately document medications, implants, contrast usage, and procedural details

  • Communicate real-time findings and patient status to the care team

Patient Care & Safety

  • Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and monitoring during procedures

  • Collaborate with nursing and physicians to verify patient readiness, including allergies and NPO status

  • Support sedation processes under clinical direction

  • Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition

  • Assist with vascular access management, including sheath removal

Department & Operational Excellence

  • Support inventory management, restocking, and supply tracking

  • Assist with room turnover to ensure efficient workflow between procedures

  • Perform routine equipment checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting

  • Track radiation dose metrics and ensure compliance with safety standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and procedure-ready environment

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program

  • Oregon State licensure (OBMI)

  • ARRT certification (RT(R))

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)

  • Minimum of one (1) year of Interventional Radiology and/or Cath Lab experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of fluoroscopy and interventional workflows

  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science or Medical Imaging preferred

  • Three (3) or more years of experience in interventional radiology or cardiac catheterization lab

  • Experience in fluoroscopy, scrubbing, and monitoring roles

  • Specialty certifications such as RCIS or NIH Stroke Scale

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

  • Strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous professional growth
