Position Summary
Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Interventional Radiologist to join our growing Radiology program. This onsite position will provide a blend of Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures and diagnostic imaging interpretation in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.
The physician will support inpatient and outpatient services, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, timely, and efficient care across the continuum. This role is integral to supporting hospital operations, improving patient throughput, and expanding access to advanced minimally invasive procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
Interventional Radiology Services
Perform a broad range of image-guided procedures, including but not limited to:Thoracentesis
Paracentesis
Nephrostomy tube placement/exchange
Abscess drainage
Lumbar punctures
Drain placement and management
Fluoroscopic procedures and barium studies
Embolization procedures (e.g., uterine fibroid embolization, tumor embolization)
Oncologic intervention (tumor ablation and related therapies)
Biliary and genitourinary interventions (biliary drainage, nephrostomy)
Dialysis access creation and maintenance
Central venous catheter and port placement
Vascular and endovascular interventions (angioplasty, stenting, thrombolysis, IVC filter placement/removal)
Additional minimally invasive IR procedures within scope and privileging
Diagnostic Imaging
Interpret diagnostic imaging studies across multiple modalities, including:CT
MRI
Ultrasound
Plain Film (PF)
Support stroke imaging and emergent radiology coverage as needed
Clinical Collaboration
Collaborate with referring physicians, hospitalists, surgeons, and clinical teams to coordinate patient care
Participate in multidisciplinary conferences and consultative discussions
Provide patient consultations, explain procedures, and address questions or concerns.
Adhere to SR.3-SR.5 standards and interpretive guidelines
Support quality improvement and operational initiatives within the Radiology service line
Practice Details
Onsite hospital-based position
Approximately 50 diagnostic studies per day
Approximately 46 procedures per day
10 hours on-site with nightly weeknight call; 24 hour weekend call
7 on/7 off schedule
Opportunity to support outpatient imaging operations, including contrasted CT/MRI oversight and breast biopsy coverage

Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Diagnostic Radiology with Interventional Radiology training
Active or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Georgia
Fellowship training in Interventional Radiology preferred
Strong procedural and clinical collaboration skills
