The licensed Radiology Technician performs all of the activities which enhance patient care and contribute to the organization and efficiency of the department. The Radiology Technician is expected to supply total radiographic support for the facility. Performs routine radiographic procedures, processes radiographs, and performs various procedures as necessary to provide accurate diagnostic information to on-site physicians for high-quality patient care. The
A radiology Technician will perform medical assistant duties to support the provision of patient care. The licensed Radiology Technician provides all aspects of clinical care within their realm of clinical competence as delegated and supervised by the physician/provider.

DUTIES:

Operates stationary equipment for producing quality radiographs.
Performs routine radiographic procedures and radiographic examinations in accordance with established standards and techniques.
Determines the position of the patient and exposure time for the best possible results on all radiographs.
Properly uses radiation protection and shielding material.
The Radiology Technician is required to wear a radiation monitoring badge which is assessed monthly for proper levels of radiation.
When examinations are in progress, the doors to the x-ray rooms are kept closed for the safety of all personnel.
Performs processing of radiographs.
Collects and processes patient specimens per lab protocol, including entering of orders in MAPS and or completion of appropriate requisition and documentation.
Performs EKGs as directed by physician/provider according to CV lab protocol.
Performs PFT’s, Audio exams, and drug and alcohol testing.
Checks all orders for accuracy and directions.
Enters in all orders for all exams performed in MAPS and Radnet.
Records the type and number of radiographs and the exposure time in the log.
Completes and charges all exams as required in department specific software programs.
Treats all information confidentially
Prepares patients for their examination with assigned physician/provider pursuant to established protocol.
Communicates procedures to the patients so that they are well informed about what services they are receiving.
Will prepare and position the patient for examination.
Maintains an awareness of patients’ physical and emotional condition and recognizes and reports adverse signs to the on-site physician to provide high quality patient care.
Ensures the correct copying and distribution of films, including routing of films to radiologists for formal interpretation.
Maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and medications, and further ensures that all outdated supplies and medications are removed from inventory.
Keeps work area neat and orderly and maintain inventory of supplies in area assigned in order to facilitate the function of the department
Assists in maintaining patient medical record by completing all required documentation and forms and ensures all diagnostic reports are present.
Can enter and retrieve necessary registration and other pertinent information into the computer.
Handles multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizes the tasks and work to be done.
Performs Medical Assistant duties as necessary and following certification or proof of training; performs the following: specimen collection techniques, (following legal chain-of-custody), Breath Alcohol Testing, PFTs, audiograms, phlebotomy, history-taking, vision tests, and EKGs.
Enters orders for all exams performed.
Completes and documents on super-bill radiographic procedures
Performs other related duties aimed at facilitating efficient medical care as directed by the physician/provider.
Insight staff will flex to network sites if required to meet patient care needs.
Must have knowledge of patient care and emergency procedures.
Tailors care of the patient according to age-specific competencies for population that presents for services.
Insight staff will flex to network sites and or company on-site locations, if required, to meet client and or patient needs
Participates in Quality Improvement activities as directed. Performs routine calibration of equipment and quality control activities.
Participates in continuing education programs and all assigned meetings.
Informs the facility manager of any equipment malfunction or need for adjustment.
Maintains appropriate licensure and certification, and participates in professional organizations.
Ensures proper storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals used in radiology procedures.
Assists in ensuring that all billing encounter forms and or flow sheets are accurate and consist of all services provided.
Attends staff meetings, at clinic and system-wide.
Must possess the ability to coordinate the efficient use of examination rooms by the physician/provider maintaining optimal patient flow required.
Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma required.
Satisfactory completion of an American Medical Association Counsel on Medical Education approved School of Radiological Technology required.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology required.
Licensed by the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety required.
CPR certification required.
Two or more years of experience in an ambulatory setting is preferred.
Experience with electronic documentation and retrieval of patient information is preferred.
Strong customer service skills, with a proven track record of demonstrating solid customer service required.
Must be detail oriented, with a demonstrated commitment to providing superior patient care required.
Must posses strong organization and filing skills required.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with population served and all involved in patient care.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment including Word and Excel required.
Ensures a safe environment for all patients, family, staff and visitors required.
Ability to adjust quickly to changes in workflow required.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively required.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team required.
Must posses the ability to take initiative in support of patient advocacy required.
Ability to serve as a mentor for new staff as directed required.
