The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures ensuring the delivery of quality patient care.The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment including peripheral equipment in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Interventional Radiology Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member.This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATIONGraduate of an accredited radiologic technology program requiredLICENSECERTIFICATION Licensed by the State of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection NJDEP requiredCertified in Radiography R.T.R by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT requiredAdvanced ARRT certification preferred within 18 months of passing initial registry or date of hireBLS for Healthcare Providers requiredACLS required within 3 months from date of hire or transferEXPERIENCE1-year diagnostic testing experience preferredCandidates must possess ability to multitask with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire State License expires end of each year and must be renewed annually to workARRT expires on incumbents date of birth and must be renewed to workWORK ENVIRONMENTPotential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment including exposure to infectious disease blood-borne pathogens potential injury and hazardous substances including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time and require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Interventional Radiology Supervisor.
