    PART I: SUMMARY OF POSITION

    This job assignment is accountable for running the Middle School Intramurals, leading and developing sports programs for students in 6th - 8th grade. This role involves coaching children in various sports, enhancing their skills, promoting teamwork, and fostering a love for physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment.

    PART II: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    B. CREDENTIALS:

    • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college
    • Valid Illinois Driver's License;
    • Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance;
    • Successful completion of Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shots Series Training;
    • May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification.

    C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of coaching techniques and human behavior;
    • Knowledge of the District's Goals of an Athletic Program and the Code of Ethics for Coaches;
    • Knowledge of the specific sport;
    • Knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action;
    • Basic skills in equipment repair and maintenance as applicable;
    • Effective, active listening skills;
    • Organizational and problem-solving skills;
    • Skills in public speaking;
    • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing;
    • Ability to recognize and treat minor athletic injuries;

    • Promotes and actively recruits student participation in the sport/activity, ensuring inclusive access and program growth.
    • Communicates and advances the goals, expectations, and values of the program to students, families, and the school community.
    • Plans, organizes, and delivers structured practices that emphasize skill development, fundamentals, and appropriate progression.
    • Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants through proper supervision, adherence to safety protocols, and injury prevention practices.
    • Provides instruction in conditioning, training techniques, and healthy practices, including appropriate use of equipment and nutrition awareness.
    • Maintains appropriate student conduct and reinforces expectations for sportsmanship, leadership, respect, and academic responsibility.
    • Serves as a positive role model, fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and personal accountability.
    • Attends and supervises all scheduled practices, contests, meetings, and program-related events (including home events and jamborees, as applicable).
    • Collaborates with administration and staff to coordinate schedules, transportation, and program logistics.
    • Assists in the development and implementation of program guidelines, rules, and operational procedures.
    • Maintains accurate records, including attendance, rosters, and required documentation for student participation.
    • Verifies eligibility requirements, including completion of physicals and required forms prior to participation.
    • Oversees the proper use, care, inventory, and maintenance of equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
    • Ensures facilities and equipment are safe, appropriate, and prepared for practices and events.
    • Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, staff, and community members.
    • Supports continuous improvement of the program through reflection, collaboration, and responsiveness to feedback.
    • Upholds confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in handling student and program information.
    • Participates in required meetings, trainings, and professional expectations associated with the role.
    • Supports school and district initiatives, including intramural or extracurricular programming as assigned.
    • Performs related duties as assigned.
