Job Description
Summary
Intramural Sports Officials manage and officiate Intramural Sports events. Staff are responsible for working with Intramural Sports teams to ensure records are up-to-date and properly enforce rules and policies of the assigned sport.
Essential Functions
- Ensure participants are checked in with proper identification and that rosters are up to date.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of sport rules and properly enforce all rules and policies.
- Use proper mechanics and signals to maintain a high level of communication with participants and other MizzouRec staff.
- Maintain meticulous score sheets for accuracy and record-keeping.
- Assist with facility maintenance, equipment set-up and take-down, and Intramural Sports league/tournament training sessions. Return space to working order at the end of each event.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to medical emergencies and participant incidents as needed.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all groups, as well as MizzouRec members, utilizing MizzouRec facilities through Intramural Sports league events and tournaments.
- Report all accidents, injuries, or other incidents to the Intramural Sports Lead to ensure proper records.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of all facilities, programs, and services.
- Maintain all equipment in good working condition. Report any maintenance issues, and restock supplies as needed
- Adhere to all University, MizzouRec, Team Mizzou, and area-specific guidelines.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
- As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve and maintain our departmental and Student Affairs mission.
Anticipated Hiring Range
$15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis
Shift
Number of hours per week: 10-15 per week. Shifts are 4:30PM-8PM and 7:45PM-11PM.
This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Adult CPR/AED certification, Child/Infant CPR, and First Aid or must obtain within 3 months of start date. MizzouRec will provide classes for staff members free of charge. Must maintain certification for duration of employment in this position.

- Risk management and facility security skills.
- Previous experience as a sport official.
- Knowledge of sport league rules and guidelines, specifically football, basketball, soccer and/or volleyball.
- MSHSAA or state officiating certification in Football, Basketball, Soccer, or Volleyball.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
